Along with the constant evolution of technology, students need to be equipped with - and continuously update - their knowledge of safe Internet and AI (Artificial Intelligence) usage in both academics and daily life. During a recent workshop for Secondary students, they deepened their understanding through meaningful lessons and hands-on, visual experiences.
Starting with a "Quick Survey," 100% of students shared that they use the Internet regularly, and most use AI, having encountered or learned about safety risks such as fake news and online scams. Guided by Mr. Do Thanh Hai (Computer Science Teacher), the students were able to more fully and comprehensively identify the risks and real-world consequences of cyber insecurity, especially in today's booming AI era.
Through concrete examples, the students gained a clearer understanding of how to spot fake information and AI-generated content - particularly "deepfake" technology - to avoid unsafe situations. They also came to realize their own responsibility when using AI, learning to avoid misuse or overreliance.
The practical session brought an energetic atmosphere to the workshop. Students enthusiastically competed with sharp eyes and quick hands, applying their newly acquired knowledge to accurately answer a series of questions in a Blooket game. Through the "Scan QR Code for Prizes" activity, they experienced firsthand just how easily personal data can be leaked if one fails to pay attention to unusual red flags.
A set of digital safety principles concluded the event, summarizing the essential rules for students when navigating the Internet and AI: Protect personal information, Verify before believing, Use AI responsibly, Always stay vigilant against online scams, Practice good cyber etiquette, and Maintain a healthy balance of screen time. The school hopes that students will remember and effectively apply these lessons, enabling the Internet and AI to serve as useful tools that enhance their learning, broaden their social awareness, and help them connect with confidence.
